The Adult Inpatient Unit on the Sheppard Pratt at Ellicott City Campus, in Howard County,is a 20 bed unit for the short term crisis stabilization of adults experiencing acute symptoms from major psychiatric disorders. The average length of stay is 5-7 days. The focus of inpatient treatment is on prevention of harm; restoration of hope; the elimination, reduction or blockade of symptoms; improvement in functioning and coping; a better understanding of the causes of illness and its treatment; and a prompt, safe return to the community.
The Adult Inpatient Unit is looking to hire a Mental Health Worker! The Mental Health Worker, under close supervision of the Staff Nurse, participates in the planning and evaluation of patient needs based on patient behaviors. Provides direct patient care services in accordance with the treatment plan and under the direction of a professional nurse. Assists in providing a safe and therapeutic environment according to established policies and procedures.
HS Diploma or GED required. Human Service related degree or past Mental Health Worker experience strongly preferred.
Hourly rate is between $11.00-$15.05 depending on experience and education.
Must be available to work every other weekend.
Must be able to complete required seven day initial orientation, Thursday, Friday and the following Monday through Friday from 8:30-4:30Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
