Full TimeThe Howard County Economic Development Authority (HCEDA) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced business development professional.
This individual will join an elite team that specializes in providing exemplary support/service to the Howard County business community.
In this role, this individual will make connections and build relationships within the Innovation Center ecosystem and facilitating opportunities for business growth and capital investment.
This position requires an onsite presence with occasional opportunities for working remotely.
Job Requirements:
The Director of Client Services is the Maryland Innovation Center's (MIC) primary team member responsible for maximizing the client experience in the MIC.
This role manages the onboarding experience of the company's journey into the MIC as an empower, amplify, or elevate member.
This team member is responsible for maintaining a detailed understanding of MIC member companies and communicating to the MIC/HCEDA staff to co-create outreach and content with the marketing team.
The Director of Client Services plays a pivotal role in supporting the organization's overall marketing goals and strategy by gathering, maintaining, and reporting member data and progress.
The Director of Client Services ensures the experience of a stellar facility that supports early-stage businesses and community members seeking early-stage business services.
This visible role in the Center requires daily in-office work with occasional remote work.
Reports to the Executive Director of the Maryland Innovation Center.

Data and Communications:
Go-to team member for ongoing tenant data (demographics, company background, wins and achievements, etc.
) This person will gather and maintain critical MIC member (empower, elevate, amplify) to help the MIC tell its story and demonstrate impact with the marketing team.
Supports and contributes to MIC creative marketing goals and strategy.
Takes initiative to find important data and communicate with the team.
Works interdependently across the organization to connect clients to other businesses and HCEDA resources.
Tenant experience management (empower/amplify/elevate).
Manages the on and off-boarding functions for paid MIC membership models (empower, amplify, elevate).
Includes oversight of member tracking, record keeping, contract administration to maintain a pulse on member management and revenue.
Schedules and plans MIC town halls with staff and mentors to provide monthly opportunities for members, mentors, and staff to connect.
Keeps a keen eye on client experience to maximize value for members and visitors.
Contributes to improvement of wayfinding, art, and technology in the MIC.
Management of Front Desk Ambassador:
Oversees and leads the Front Desk Ambassador to maximize efficiencies in customer service and ensuring daily experience of MIC tenants and visitors is up to par.
The oversight of Front Desk Ambassador will ensure quality services, cleanliness, AV functionality, room management and reservations, phone call service, greeting and directing visitors goes smoothly day-to-day.
Facilities Support.
Triages on site facility issues for resolution.
Maintains understanding of ongoing facility opportunities and challenges on floors related to the MIC.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES3
years of successful track record of business development activities Ability to negotiate with business and community leadersFamiliar with local commercial real estate and economic environment Knowledgeable of the principles and practices of economic development and the general business communityDemonstrated experience with business development, negotiation, and developing partnershipsExceptional attention to detail, and the ability to demonstrate strong communication, organizational, time management, writing, mathematic and problem-solving skillsAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other professionals and community leadersDemonstrate enthusiasm, professionalism, and willingness to work as a team.
Must be able to prioritize workload, handle pressure and meet deadlinesProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Windows Software, knowledge of Salesforce preferred but not required, and basic mobile technologies.
Able to learn reporting software platforms.

Qualifications:
Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
4-5 years of managerial or leadership experience in a fast- paced environment.
Experience with entrepreneurial or small business organizations preferred.
